La Guita Xica (Catalan pronunciation: [ɫə ˈɣitə ˈʃikə]) is a dragon that appears amongst the legends of Catalonia. It was originally a kind of "mule that is kicking the foot up," hence the former name, Mulaguita. It is a protective dragon that defends the people of Catalonia and the Eucharist's festivals of Patum de Berga. As for its appearance, it has a green body, and a very long neck and fangs. It also has dark, shining eyes.
It was formerly called Mulaguita and Mulafera. It was originally a demon, but has changed to a protective dragon in the spirit of the Eucharist festival. During the festivals, large representations of the dragon are built in the town squares, spitting fireworks.
It appeared for the first time in 1890, and it's also known as La guita boja.
